Extended Day Program


Welcome to Extended Day Program at Saint Mary School of Branford, a Catholic School Convenient to New Haven, East Haven, North Branford, Northford, Madison and Guilford, CT

The goal of the Saint Mary Extended Day Program (EDP) is to provide quality care through creative learning activities as an extension of the school day for any Pre-K through 8th Grade student registered at Saint Mary School. The Extended Day Program is eager to become a partner with you and St. Mary School in the development of your child, encouraging creativity, socialization, and learning.

While at EDP students are expected to abide by the rules set forth in the Saint Mary School Parent/Student Handbook. We thank you in advance for your cooperation and participation as partners is providing a quality learning experience for all the children.

Registration:

All Extended Day Program forms must be filled out and returned with the $100 yearly registration fee on or before the first day of your child’s attendance at EDP. The necessary forms can be downloaded from this site or requested from the school office.

Cost:

The fee for the program is $15 per day, per child. There is a $100 non-refundable registration fee per family for the year. There is no refund or credit for days your child is absent. There is no charge for days the program does not meet and no additional charge for half-day sessions.

Weekly Registration:

The upcoming week’s fee and weekly registration form are due and payable by the Friday before your child’s attendance. A note to your child’s classroom teacher is also necessary to ensure that your child is in the proper place at dismissal. Payment must be current in order for your child to remain in the program. You can download the sign up sheet here, or pick up copies in the EDP classroom.

Conduct/Question/Comments:

In the event of a problem or concern of a child or parent/guardian, the Program Director, Anne Bassi, is the first contact. If the problem is not resolved, the school principal, Sister Annette D’Antonio, M.P.F., is to be contacted. We welcome your input and assistance in providing quality care for all the children in the program.

Daily Hours and Activities:

The program is in operation from regular dismissal, 2:15 pm, until 6 pm. A child may attend all or part of this time. The basic schedule for the day is as follow

2:15 pm – Meet and greet, attendance, *change of clothes and an opportunity to begin homework
3:00 pm – Outdoor or indoor gym actives
3:30 pm – Snack time (snacks are provided)
4:00 pm – Homework/study time, arts and crafts and quiet playtime activities – help is provided on homework when necessary
6:00 pm – Program closes

*A change of clothing from school uniform to play clothes and sneakers is suggested for your child’s comfort and safety.

Early Dismissal and No School Days:

In the case of an early dismissal, the program operates from Noon until 6 pm.

  • Children should bring a lunch with a drink. Snacks will be provided.
  • The program is not in operation when there is no school, i.e. during vacations, professional development days, or holidays.
  • Whenever school is cancelled due to inclement weather, the program is cancelled.

Child Pick Up and Safety:

When it is time to pick up your child please use the entrance at the far right side of the school. For the safety of our students and staff you must ring the doorbell and wait to be let into the building. It is mandatory that all parents/guardians use the sheet provided in the EDP classroom to sign out each child. If the children are outdoors, you still need to sign the form and notify the program personnel that you are here to pick up your child. No child will be released to any person unless designated by the parent/guardians. The designated person must provide value ID upon arrival.
