Our Pre-K program is designed with a kinesthetic and hands-on approach to learning. We create meaningful learning experiences through independent discovery and play! Saint Mary School of Branford follows the standards and curriculum requirements researched and established by the Archdiocese of Hartford, which provides a comprehensive framework for early childhood student learning and achievement in religion, math, language arts and reading, science, social studies, foreign language (Spanish), technology, arts and music as well as physical education.
Kindergarten at Saint Mary School of Branford focuses on advancement in religion, language arts, math, social studies, science and arts and movement. In Kindergarten, students will experience a vast array of opportunities to read, view and hear and act out a variety of stories as well as interpret these stories in literal, critical and evaluative ways. Children learn whole number concepts such as counting, cardinal numbers, ordinal numbers and classifying to use number sense and numeration. The children will participate in learning activities that explore various subject areas at one time through Science, Technology, Engineering, Math , Arts, Language, Social Studies and Religion. This interdisciplinary approach to learning allows the students to explore various access points and resources which lead the students into critical thinking, problem solving, making connections and engaging in meaningful dialogue. The children will be exploring concepts of likenesses and differences among cultural groups, developing curiosity, and respect for life.
